Last night was an exciting night for some and a nightmare for others. After rallying for a record 8 months, AT LAST!!!!!! The market has gone into the start of what I think is a major correction. Why? The S&P and Dow breached their short-term support levels as you can see from the 3 month chart below. (captured from optionsxpress.com)

3-4 months ago, I said that the markets (i.e. Dow and S&P) were due for a correction as they were already at the top of the 4-year resistance line. Many experts (in moneycentral.com) also made that prediction. However the markets just kept going up and up like nobody’s business.

That’s the power of education! Whenever you invest in material that will expand your mindset and your beliefs about what you can achieve, that investment will pay off FOREVER.

Because anything that you learn will stay with you for the rest of your life. It is a true asset that NEVER depreciates in value. Unlike a house or a car or your favorite set of golf clubs.

What surprises me still is that most people have no qualms blowing a few thousand dollars on an expensive toy that has no REAL value but they cringe at having to spend just a hundred bucks for information that could change their lives.

I could be mean saying this but - It’s no wonder some people never achieve their goals that they want in life!

If you want to achieve anything in life, it just makes sense to take the shortcut and learn the knowledge that will take you there in half the time and effort. Because then you know what needs to be done instead of wasting time fumbling around in the dark.

I don’t need to mention this really but take a look at this:

A couple of months ago I Blogged about my experience at the immigration in Changi Airport. Although there was an ‘Automated Clearance’ machine that allowed Singaporeans to go through customs by scanning their passport and thumbprints, many people just preferred to stand at the long queues where they went through the manual process of going through the Immigration officer.

Last week, I had a similar experience. When I went to Changi Airport Terminal 2, I noticed that there were at least 10 automated check-in machines for Singapore Airlines customers. The funny thing was that it was completely unused!!! Instead, there were long queues of people at the manual check-in counters.

Although I have never used it before and has no clue how to work it, I just thought I would give it a shot. Afterall, I was late and did not fancy joining the long queue to get checked-in. I must say the machine was amazing. It first asks you to insert your credit card and passport for identification. Then you able to select your own seats on the plane just like booking a movie seat online…COOOL!

In less than 2 minutes, the machine prints out my boarding pass. As for the check in baggae, you just drop it into a bag-drop and its in! In under 6 minutes I had checked in and had gone through immigration (automated machine of course).

So, why is nobody using these super cool technology? Are people afraid of doing something new? Must someone tell them to do it? What do you think? Where is the proactive spirit? Have you seen those machines yourself before? Have you used it? Why not?

During the last couple of days, I visited the house of one my very wealthy clients. He bought a waterfront bungalow at Sentosa Cove and invited me and my family over for a house warming/ Chinese New Year get-to together. I must say that the bungalows there are really beautiful and amazing but I think its crazy to pay $1,300 per square foot for a 99-year leasehold property. My friend purchased a 12,000 square foot house (with a berth and yaucht attached) for a cool $14 million +. This friend of mine makes his millions as the head of investment for a financial MNC powerhouse. He makes hundreds of millions of dollars for his company, so I guess paying him a $5m annual bonus is no big deal to them.

1) Head of Direct Sales
This has to be someone who has lots of experience in direct sales and in managing sales people and sales systems. This person must be super highly motivated and have the skills to motivate and drive other people to succeed. A background in education would be preferred.

2) Curriculum Developers and Teachers for Primary School Enrichment Programs
This person should have at least 5-7 years experience as a teacher, trainer, counselor, or psychologist who loves working with primary level children. A background in educational psychology, NLP, brain-based learning or accelerated learning will definitely be an edge!

I love the coments from Conrad and Samuel on my last posting. Yes, I agree its really sad to see how spoilt and unappreciate some young kids can be. And I totally agree that it is their parents who unknowingly screwed them up by giving them what they want and taking their crap.

Recently, a mum came for my preview for my kids training program. She wanted to send her 10 year old son as he was lazy, rude and had no interest at all in success. When she asked him if he wanted to go, he screamed at her and said, ‘If you dare to sign me up, I will kill you!’

A very happy and prosperous new year to all the Chinese friends out there. And to all the non-Chinese, a very happy super long holiday! As I was giving out hundreds of dollars in ang pow money to friends and relatives (luckily I got two daughters to bring back some revenue and help reduce the losses…just kidding), I remembered how important the ang pow money I received over the years has helped me build up my seed money to start all my business ventures as a kid.

I used to collect about $600-$800 a year (I had lots and lots of relatives who were pretty generous) in red packet revenue and by the time I was 15, I had close to $20,000. All this would not have been possible if I did not save every last cent and put it into a fixed deposit account and allowed the money to compound. This was back in the good old 1970’s-80’s when interest rates from banks were 5%-7%!
