Adam Khoo + Dr. William Tan = ?

Something amazing happened again yesterday. For my last couple of seminars, I had been talking alot about Dr. William Tan as a living example of the power of human potential and that it is our power to choose our response that detremines our destiny. I had talked about wanting to meet up with him when…I get an unexpected email on Monday from the man himself. He said that he was retiring from Medical practice and wanted to devote the rest of his life to charity work and empowering the people in the Singapore through his thoughts, ideas and experiences. The reason for his email was that he wanted to join the Adam Khoo Group! I think he would make an amazing speaker in my Patterns of Excellence as well as my Teens and Superkids Program. The LAW OF ATTRACTION is truly amazing!!!

For those of you who have no idea who this man is, let me just say that he is one of the very people I truly am inspired by. Paralyzed from the waist down from the age of two, William’s family was too poor to buy him cruches or a wheel chair. As a result, he walked on his hands (dragging his feet) for 8 years to the age of 10, until he was given a pair of old crutches. In kindergarten, he was bullied and pinched by other buys because of his handicap. Because he chose to fight back and defended himself, he was expelled from kindergarten (damn! He broke my record of being kicked out of Primary school at the age of 9).

Instead of choosing to focus on his disabilities, he chose to focus on his strengths (i.e. his willpower, his arms and his mind). He set a huge goal of becoming a medical doctor and an olympic athelete. Despite studying hard and getting straights As for his O Levels and A Levels, William was rejected by NUS MEdical School because they would not allow a paralyzed medical doctor. Instead they sent him to studying for an undergrad degree in LIfe Sciences. But, Williams dream was to become a doctor and he was willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen! So after graduating and working in the civil service for 5 years, he saved up everything he had and went to Harvard University to do a First Class Honors Degree and Masters in Physiology and a PhD in NeuroScience and became a Neuro-scientist (that’s brain surgeon for us ordinary folk).

After achieving his dreams of becoming a medical doctor and a brain scientist, he went for his next goal of becoming an olympic athlete and Guiness world record holder. He became the first person in the world to complete 10 marathons over 7 continents over 70 consecutive days! Over the last 18 years, he has completed 60 Ultra Marathons (Over 45 km each) and raised over $16m for charity.

Dr William

At the age of 50 years old today, his next dream is to complete a marathon grandslam next year by competing in 10 more marathons in 7 continents as well as the North Pole and Antartica. So do you think he is qualified to join Adam Khoo Learning Group as a speaker?

Adam Khoo, Patrick Cheo and Dr William

Attached is a picture of us having lunch today. Incidentally, the other guy on my right is my partner Patrick Cheo. Patrick will be taking over as CEO of Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group as of Aug 1, 2007. It is a great feeling to know that you have built a company where it can run on its own and allow me to focus on writing more books and doing what I love to do, speaking and empowering people. I must say that Patrick has really done a great job in helping me build up the business over the last 5 years. Starting with $5,000 and 2 staff, Adam Khoo Learning Group has now 53 staff in Singapore and is on track to hit $10m in revenue this year. This is not even including our offices he has helped me built in Su Zhou (China), Jakarta, Malaysia and soon to be Vietnam!

Alright, time to sign off…I am going to get ready for The next Wealth Academy that starts TOMORROW! Gotta help alot more people achieve their goals of becoming a millionaire.

    Hi Adam,

Truly is inspiring to hear of amazing people like Dr Tan……..I wish him well and he will be a great speaker. Adam, as you may remember I have bought some of your products and have been trying to organise a copy of the Investors book, the 15 min video on The Patterns of Excellence and the 2-hour live seminar on ‘How to Get the Results You Want in Life with NLP!’ DVD. I wrote back a couple of times but have not managed to hear back. Hope you can help!

    Wow, that’s great news.
Have always found him to be an inspiration. I recall him coming down to my college and motivating my students. And I personally saw him in action when he took part in a Ride for Hope event and ran alongside him as he wheeled tirelessly for hours. His determination and drive are indeed awe-inspiring.
He will definitely be an asset to your organisation and his presence will inspire more to achieve and excel.

    cheers,
    Aik Cher

Hi Adam, a great story to share, everything is possible if you think “Possible”. Dr. William Tan is a good example for those always like to blame, Justify and give excuses for not getting thing done.

    Hi Adam,

I have been reading the news articles and recently the read the section on the drastically increase of millionares in Singapore . It was then, i heard my friends speaking of this man known as . “ADAM KHOO”.
Out of curiousity, I did alittle research on AKLTG and eventually lead me to this site of yours. It has come to my attention that your learning course and millionare guides are indeed impressive and amazing. I have seen aimless people turning to champions under your influence, be it yound and old.
However, i have a question. It’s a good sign that more and more young talents, both local and foreign are becoming millionares and prospering Singapore. However, imagine Singapore 10 years down the road, when a “large” majority of Singaporeans have reached their peak as millionares, by then, would being a millionare be worthless any more? Of course i’m not afraid that i won’t be a millionare in the future, but if almost everyone is a millionare, where would i stand?

    Hi Adam,

I read your “I’m gifted, so are you”, “Secrets to self made millionaire” and “secrets of millionaire investors”. I’ve also attended your talks in Secondary 1 and 4. What i want to say is, you’ve changed my life. From a problematic primary schoolboy to a motivated person with a dream i want to achieve. Though it’s not a smooth sailing journey and i’ve failed many many times. But i’m on my way to realise my dream now. I’m 21 this year and i hope you continue to inspire many kids around and change their lives!!!

I was really touched by Dr. Tan’s story. His willpower is great and that is the important property most learners do not posses.
