[...] Incidentally, Charlie blogged about Adam Khoo’s blog entry on happiness being a state of mind. Can’t agree more. Faye Wong (王菲) always wishes “Be happy”. Little wonder how simple those words are, yet how hard it is to achieve. [...]

Wow, it's so heartlifting to know that there are people who share the same dilemma as I had about 5 years ago! I used to think I am the weirdo who think too much!

I used to be like most people - setting certain goals to acheive so-called 'happiness' and think that I would be happy once I acheive them. Which of course never happened...

It was only after I DECIDED that I want to be happy, no matter what! I hold onto this belief that everything happens for a reason. I might not know the reason but after every challenge, I emerge as a better person. I trained my mind to talk myself into a happy state, even when I am facing a difficult challenge. I keep reminding myself the blessings I have - great family, friends, good health(so far so good) and a wonderful career(where I can help lots of people).

Of course there are still times where I would still lose my cool and be upset, but I am getting better at it. Takes a bit of training and determination, I believe everyone of us can achieve the happy state.

Yes, I agree with you Adam. Nothing nor anyone can make one unhappy, it is us taking charge of our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

I think training oneself to think positive and looking at situations with a broader lens is necessary because every moment in our daily living, there will be situations or people or whatever that will trigger some negative thoughts in our minds. It's more often the negative subconscious mind programming that reacts automatically and gets triggered causing one to feel and act negatively. Therefore, it is also the practice of self-awareness and training one's conscious mind to be a proper gatekeeper of the subconscious.

I thinking learning and understanding and knowing how our minds works is so important - since it is our thoughts that create our reality. I would like to share a quote here: "FEELINGS DON'T COME FROM OTHER PEOPLE OR OUTSIDE SITUATIONS, THEY COME FROM YOUR MIND. HENCE, YOU ARE IN BONDAGE OR LIBERATION ON A FEELING AND EMOTIONAL LEVEL ACCORDING TO HOW YOU INTERPRET THINGS! By Dr Joshua David Stone.

The best to you & all,
Celine

Thank you to Adam for yet another inspiring and uplifting blog entry.

I agree fully that Happiness is indeed NOT a goal but a state of mind, a state of being in it. I used to be in that mode of aiming to be happy as well.

I would say to myself...If only i can get that A+ for my 5 modules.. i'll be truely happy or if I can get that particular project.. i'll be over the moon.

guess what? I am happy but not for long. You see.. once the event passes, I realise that another problem or something is Sure to surface, and i go through the cycle again, hoping and aiming to be happy once i solved these issues. If thats the case, then i'll never be happy in my lifetime.. and nobody will if they go by this defination for happiness.

True happiness comes from within... really.

Thanks again, Adam for this great post.. truely appreciate it.

cares,
Javier.

Totally agreed with you, be happy or be unhappy are usually under you own control. I work for years and most of the time I tried to keep a happy mind or mood. My principle is that we have to complete our job/ task from the boss, we can do it happily or unwillingly, no matter what we have to do it because we are paid, right? So, enjoy it and do it happily. The result will be different when you do something happily and willingly, you feel good and performance will usually be better and the people surrounded will feel it, of course boss will also know !

Be happy and always look on the bright side of things !
