Adam,

We, Singaporeans, should not be "soft". In fact, it was our earlier generation's hunger for success and a better life that led to financial prosperity and better living conditions today.

Our younger generations should do the same. Bite the bullet, and thrive for even greater success, with our values intact. Our youths are not any worse than Chinese youths! At least, we have stronger English skills and more multi-cultural exposure than our Chinese counterparts.

I don't like the way the Chinese "study ma-mas" are irresponsibly breaking up our Singaporean families, on the pretext of earning more money whilst their kids are studying. According to a Straits Times article 2 days back, even the European Union feels that they are "short-changed" by the Chinese Government, in terms of equal investment opportunities and skills exchange between China and EU.

Singapore has a good & established reputation as a fair-practice trading country. We can continue to be a reliable and innovative trading partner with other countries, if our future generation are responsible and well-trained.

The Chinese can mock us for being "stupid" and "too honest" in our trading practices. But, let's see who will have the last laugh in the long-term?

Come on, Singapore! I believe we are not a generation of "workers"; we are innovators and will survive any storm!

Adam, please continue to empower these Singaporean kids' (and even adults') minds with your skills. Many of us are still stuck in the "industry age" and conventional way of doing things.

Hey Adam,

Brilliant insight..i nvr really thought about how bad e situation is over here in Singapore but right now after reading ur statements here..made me think..that there really is a lack of thirst for success and growth here in this country. I think perhaps the reason for that is many Singaporeans are "spoon-fed" and well looked after by our government that it does not force us to think on our feet except for a select few minority such as yourself. PM Lee has been doing a great job of pushing for people to think for themselves and promoting entrepreneurship but after all he is only one person...

We need more ppl like yourself to act as a change agent and wake the ppl in this country up. We need get them thirsty and the only way to do that is make them lick the block of salt of life...

Warmly,
Arvind
